'Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.' Proverbs 22:6
EYFS
Intent
At St Nicholas CE Primary school, we aim to build on the curriculum that the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provides, to decide what we intend children to learn and develop.
Implementation
We create a nurturing environment that promotes our children's well-being by offering and implementing positive, child-led outdoor experiences in a natural setting. We adhere to the learning and development requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring that all areas of the EYFS curriculum are thoughtfully planned to provide a broad, balanced, and progressive learning environment.
Impact
This approach fosters traits such as resilience, confidence, and independence, while also enhancing motivation, cooperation, decision-making, and social skills. It supports learning by consolidating and deepening knowledge, ensuring that children meet their next steps. As a result, children acquire new skills, gain knowledge, and demonstrate understanding across the seven areas of the EYFS curriculum.
We also measure the impact of our curriculum by how effectively it helps all our children, including those with SEND and vulnerable children, develop into well-rounded individuals. These individuals embody our values and carry with them the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to become lifelong learners and valuable future citizens.
